Welcome the Lights

Hi ! all lads and lass'
here is the fesival of lights
welcome the lights
DIWALI beckons
diyas are here, there and everywhere
tranquilising, steadying, cheering
and reflection-inducing,
they enliven our hearts,
rejunevate our lives.
welcome the lights!

Welcome the lights,
for the rut of the day
is not that away
when day in and day out
all we will have are but bouts
with programs and exams.
hey! just kidding!
But, look at the diya,
or is it an eye?
like siva's third eye,
it energizes our future
like our inner eye,
it reflects upon our past.
welcome the light
unto the light in your heart
to combine with that divine,
for this is the one
that soothes and guides
when the day is dark
and the way is difficult
welcome the lights!

Welcome the lights,
wearing the smiles
with all the gaiet
and the hopes aplenty
for the lights of life are all galore
and are we not all game to explore !?
welcome the lights!

On this DIWALI, my friends,
i wish u all the 'light' in u'r lives
accept my wishes and their warmth
for these winter nights
when u welcome the lights
into u'r homes, into u'r hearts.

Awaiting Expression

In the light of day,
In the night sublime,
I burst out all of a sudden,
In time uneven.

Here and away
My heart just strays,
I have so much to say....

Feelings hold sway,
Reason turned away,

The sun deep red
The sky pale blue
The chirping birds

The blossoming flowers
The nebulous clouds,
The rushing crowds

Everyone seems,
Something they say,
I ponder and meander

Reflect and introspect
All through the day
I have something to say.

And so I paint and I compose
What life proses,
And so I live and I prose
What life composes.

The One Behind the Many

Who is the one
Behind the many?
The one masked into 'that'
When you think 'that',
The one masked into 'this'
When you think 'this'.
You are, because you think.
Who are 'you' when you don't?

Who is the one in you?
Who is the one in me?
Who is the one in you who feels..,
While you think?
Who is that in you, feeling alone,
While you are with a crowd?
Who is the one blushing,
When caught unaware
While smiling at himself
All alone !

Who is the one in me, so warm,
While I am drenched in this winter rain.
Who is the one who gives the thrust
When I loose heart?
Who is the one so discontent
While in good times I am lost?
Who is the one longing for the morning calm
While I go bustling around.

He wanders around for the unknown light
When under the neon lights, i sleep.
He has no reason for
When wronged,
Once in time he roars in fury
And in another,
He makes my eyes damp.

In happiness too, once at times
He brings the child in me
And in another, he makes me feel all futile.

Who is that one beyond all reason
And this grand delusion?
Who is the one
Behind the many?

Why is he lost
Behind the imposters?
With a boy's heart,
In a man's world
What does he crave for?

Music of a Winter Night

The moon in sky crawls alone
Spying the ocean down below
That's pensive, silent sans any billow
It asks the zephyr, on the sly,
What is the affair...

The waft, like water which is soft
Coos out the causing
The charmed ocean's pausing.

The moon then muses
The soft and full emotion
In the swell of the ocean.

It shed a flood of silver sheen
Through it's pale moon-beam
And gazed in love
Onto the infant asleep
As the cold rays strayed
Over the ocean's face.

The waves started gleaning
And the lulled winds started dreaming
And then the midnight moon started weaving
A bright chain over the deep
Whose breast started gently heaving!
The moon was loving
And the ocean started living.

And so the moon
Drove away the gloom
Bringing in light
This winter night.
The moon still crawls,
The ocean now enthralls!
